Bracknell town centre now an even safer place to be

28/06/06

Bracknell is a safe, secure shopping destination – but it just got even safer! Bracknell Regeneration Partnership town centre staff have received training certified by the Royal Berkshire Ambulance Trust so should shoppers get taken ill, they will be in safe hands.

Many of the town centre on site team are trained in first aid but six members of staff have now been specially trained to use defibrillators, essential pieces of life saving equipment ready for use in the event of an emergency.

Rob Morris, Retail Manager for Bracknell town centre said:
“We are delighted to be making Bracknell an even safer place to shop. By completing the Defibrillation Course our staff can make a key difference in those crucial minutes before the emergency services arrive. We all hope we do not need to use their skills, but the public can rest assured that should they be needed, they are in expert hands and a machine that could save their life is close at hand.”

The Bracknell Regeneration Partnership is committed to ensuring Bracknell is a safer place to shop. The life saving training is the latest initiative to further enhance the safety of the town’s shoppers. Through the introduction of other new initiatives and facilities, the town centre has acquired a full time Town Ranger, three dedicated police officers and a radio network with more than 80 members linked to a comprehensive CCTV system. The town centre has already received much acclaim for its Safer Shopping Scheme – last year receiving commendation from the Association of Town Centre Management, it has been awarded the British Retail Consortium Safer Shopping Award and Princess Square Car Park has a safer car park award.
