07/07/06

With the summer really hotting up, why not get into the holiday spirit by visiting Bracknell’s Malaysian Festival. From 10am – 4.30pm on Saturday 8th July, Bracknell Town Centre will be awash with colourful costumes, delicious food stalls, live dance shows and interactive crafts stalls. With activities for all the family to enjoy, you’ll be treated to a truly authentic Malaysian experience.

Highlights of the day include the gong opening ceremony, the 200 hundred balloon release, cookery demonstrations, relaxing activities such as batik painting, hair braiding and traditional massage and scheduled performances of the famous Malaysian Indian and Lion dances. At 2pm a traditional wedding ceremony will take place to include Malay dance and martial arts displays.

“With the huge success of last year’s event, we expect that this year will be even bigger and better. The Malaysian Festival is a fantastic day out for all the family and is a great opportunity to learn about other cultures, try new cuisines and maybe discover a new holiday destination,” comments Helen Barnett, Bracknell Regeneration Partnership.

With a chance to win flights to Malaysia and 200 worth of Argos vouchers on the day, there are even more reasons to visit Bracknell’s Malaysian Festival. In addition to the live entertainment, there’s Bentalls, your favourite high street stores, over 40 independent retailers and plenty of car parking which is free on Sundays.

The Malaysian Festival in Bracknell begins at 10am on Saturday 8th July. For more information on the day, visit the town centre information booth situated in Charles Square or visit “www.changebracknell.com(Change Bracknell)”http://www.changebracknell.com.
