Sejwix Delicatessen, one of Bracknell’s premier eateries, has been nominated for a UKTV Food Local Hero awards.

Local entrepreneur Neil Ellis is thrilled to be nominated having only started his café and deli last year. He has lovingly built it up since then to be one of Bracknell’s premier eateries, focusing on providing his customers with quality food and variety. Sejwix successful businesses operation has already won recognition at this year’s OSCAs Gala evening, organised by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, where Sejwix won an Outstanding Service to Customers award.

Neil Ellis comments: “I feel very honoured to be nominated for the UKTV Food Local Hero awards as it means we are providing a service our customers trust and are happy with. I am lucky that I have a fantastic team at Sejwix whom I trust and work well with. Since we opened a year ago, we have learnt to watch our customers closely and respond quickly to them, changing our menu daily, using organic produce and fresh, high quality ingredients. It will also be brilliant for local businesses around the UK to have the recognition nationally (with the help of the UKTV Food Local Hero directory,) for all the hard work they are doing and the chance to have a dream come true.”

The UKTV Food Local Hero awards are tributes to Britain’s independent shops asking food lovers to vote for their food heroes. The short listed contenders will be battling it out to win the coveted UKTV Food: Local Hero Award on Gary Rhodes new series due to be on air this November. All the nominees will be asked to name one key thing that will make a big difference to their business operations for example new parking facilities or a shop refurbishment, but it is the eventual winner of UKTV Food’s Local Hero 2006 campaign that will have their wish granted.

Neil Ellis, on being asked what his dream wish will be, responded: “Looking to the future for Sejwix, we plan on expanding our outside catering service, offering efficient and quality catering facilities to businesses in the local area. If we were to be voted as the eventual winner of UKTV Food’s Local Hero campaign, our wish is to improve and expand the back of our store to give us more space for preparation, increasing our productivity in the outside catering side of the business.”
