BRP £250,000 investment to improve Princess Square Car Park

05/09/06

Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP), owner of Princess Square, has announced plans to significantly improve the shopping centre’s car parking facilities, reflecting an investment of 250,000.

The refurbishment plans will see the replacement of dated ticketing and control equipment, to provide a more efficient and reliable system, offering additional public pay-stations for added convenience. Included in the plans are resurfacing works on upper level ramps and repairs to water damage.

Set to begin later this month, the refurbishment will introduce new signage and branding throughout, improvements to the entrance lobby into the centre and the addition of more disabled and parent-toddler bays. ‘Stork spaces’ will also be added, providing more comfortable access for expecting mothers to be!

Rob Morris, Retail Manager for BRP comments: “Bracknell excels as a convenient and user-friendly town centre and the improvements we are proposing will complement this stress-free shopping environment. We expect the new ‘stork spaces’ concept will be particularly well received! These plans follow the improvements completed last year to the lighting of the car park, and are in line with our committed strategy to improve the shopping environment for visitors to the town centre.”

The refurbishment is scheduled to complete at the end of October and BRP are working closely with the project team to minimise disruption. The programme currently allows for only two days of closure to the car park, during which essential repairs to the main entrance will be completed. The High Street car park will remain open, providing easy and direct access to the shopping centre, throughout the works.

USL Contractors have been appointed to undertake the refurbishment, with national firm PWP Consulting acting as project managers to the scheme.
