BRP invests in our eco-future with comprehensive waste management strategy

In a new environmentally friendly initiative for Bracknell, major private landowner Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) has launched a waste management scheme for retailers in Princess Square.
Setting new higher best practice standards for efficiency in the town centre in line with European environmental policies, the scheme is the first of many eco-friendly initiatives that BRP are putting in place for the future.
The scheme aims to reduce cardboard waste through cardboard bailing for recycling, which not only succeeds in positively lowering the amount of waste sent to landfills but also lowering costs for retailers who have come on board.
The 30,000 cardboard bailer was installed late this summer and has already accumulated 40 tonnes of cardboard waste through bailing. This investment aims to achieve a 30% cost saving on landfill expenditure for the retailers in the shopping centre.
Bentalls is the latest retailer to support the cardboard bailing initiative, which now includes all fifty-one retailers in the shopping centre. BRP hopes to extend the initiative to retailers across the town centre next year.
Rob Morris, Retail Manager for BRP comments: “The level of cardboard waste we have been able to recycle through bailing has exceeded expectations and we are delighted with the support the scheme has had from retailers in the town centre who share our vision of environmentally friendly best practice.”
