A bright Christmas in Bracknell

09/01/07

Christmas 2006 trading figures have shown a positive trend in Bracknell town centre, reports Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP), with footfall figures indicating that shoppers are choosing Bracknell for their Christmas shopping and January sales!

Strong trading figures support the view that Bracknell is a vibrant and busy town centre, with overall footfall up nearly 5% in the 7 days up to Christmas and Boxing Day. Rob Morris, Bracknell’s Retail Manager comments: “Bracknell is a convenient destination of choice and the family friendly environment we aim to provide in the town has resulted in a strong Christmas trading period for our retailers, who are reporting buoyant sales and shopper numbers as we progress the January sales. BRP delivered an exciting and varied Christmas programme of events to get visitors and shoppers in town, to enjoy the festive atmosphere and great shopping.

“Homewares and fashion have performed the strongest in the retail sector, with shoppers taking advantage of great prices to create their new look 2007 wardrobes as well as adding a few stylish touches to their home décor!”

It is not only the retailers who benefit from a healthy Christmas season and bustling town centre. Thames Hospicecare, who provided a Christmas Gift Wrapping service, collected close to 4,000, thanks to shoppers in the town centre. Volunteer gift Wrapping Organiser Patricia Murden comments: “Our volunteers do seem to enjoy providing this service in Princess Square and we are most grateful to Bracknell Regeneration Partnership for providing us with this fund raising opportunity. Thank you to our diligent volunteers and all generous donations for supporting the service.”

Rob Morris continues, “the success of this Christmas season can be attributed to the imaginative programme of festive events, the retailers’ choice of attractive products, range and display, and most importantly, Bracknell’s local residents, whose continued support of their town centre makes it all worthwhile!”
