Geotechnical work gets the thumbs up from Borough Mayor
10/09/07
Bracknell Forest Borough Council Mayor, Cllr Mrs Gill Birch and Bracknell Regeneration Partnership Retail Manager, Rob Morris, were inspecting holes made by the geotechnical work in Charles Square on Monday (10th September).
The work taking place in Bracknell town centre is the first stage of the 750 million regeneration of Bracknell town centre and will continue until around the middle of October.
It is aimed at discovering the makeup of soil and rock underneath the ground and assessing the structure of the ground ahead of the building work planned to start late next year (2008).
Cllr Mrs Gill Birch, Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest, said: “It was really interesting to see how these holes are being dug and to find out about what the contractors are looking for. It is an exciting first stage of the regeneration of Bracknell town centre which we are all looking forward to.”
Visitors to the town centre can read all about the types of holes and what each hole is designed to achieve on information boards that surround the work.
Rob Morris, Retail Manager, Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, comments: “The work in Charles Square and Jubilee Gardens is vital in making our plans for Bracknell Town Centre a success. We are thankful to all the retailers, residents and visitors to Bracknell for their support during this first step in the regeneration process.”
