Gardeners Glory at Your Gardens Award

25/09/07

Green fingered enthusiasts were awarded for their flowery efforts today last Friday (21st September) when the results of the annual Your Gardens competition were announced.

The local gardening competition organised by Bracknell Forest Borough Council and sponsored by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership announced this year’s lucky winners at the Your Gardens Awards held at The Grange Hotel.

Despite this summer’s watery weather conditions there was still an array of glorious gardens within Bracknell Forest which impressed the judges.

The Your Gardens competition is not only aimed at making the borough more visually interesting but it is also central to Bracknell Forest’s entry into the regional Britain in Bloom competition. This year, Bracknell was, for the third year running, awarded a Silver Gilt award and placed second in the small city / large town category.

Cllr Iain McCracken. Executive Member for Leisure and Corporate Services and Public Protection at Bracknell Forest Borough Council, said: “I am always impressed by the high standards and inventiveness we see in the entries. Residential gardens play such an important role in the wider environment so it’s great to see residents making such a huge effort.

“As with previous years it’s been extremely difficult for the panel to pick the winners but we wouldn’t have it any other way. My thanks go to BRP for their continued support and to my fellow judges for their lively debate.”

Best front garden – Mr Andrew Radgick, Bullbrook
