Keeping you up to date around town

"Dzien Dobry" From Bracknell

02/10/07

Specialist Polish grocer Smacznego is set to open at 13 Crossway on Saturday 22 September and Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) is delighted to say “Dzien dobry” (good day) to welcome the store to Bracknell town centre.

Whether you are craving Bigos (a traditional hunters’ stew) or Pierogi (dumplings with meat or vegetables), Smacznego offers a wide range of eastern European and Polish food and beverages. Catering to growing demand in this specialist market, Smacznego will stock canned and preserved foods such as Flaki (tripe soup), Kapusta (pickled cabbage) and even Golabki (meatballs with rice and cabbage in a tomato sauce)!

Darren Nation is opening the store with his partner Joanna Mordasiewicz, who was born in Tychy in Southern Poland. Darren comments: “Having travelled as far as Slough and Reading to the closest Polish food stores for a ‘taste of home’, we realised that there is a strong opportunity for a speciality grocer in Bracknell town centre. We hope the store will be great focal point not only for the growing eastern European community but also for local Bracknell residents who may want to taste something new and interesting.”

Rob Morris, Retail Manager at BRP congratulates Darren and Joanna on their first business venture, commenting: “We are delighted to support a new start up business, where we believe there are many opportunities for entrepreneurs with creativity, energy and enthusiasm in the run up to the regeneration of the town centre. Smacznego adds to Bracknell’s growing food offer and provides even more choice in the town.”

There is more choice for food and groceries in Bracknell with new operator Smacznego joining M&S Food, Sainsburys, Sejwix Delicatessen, Thorntons, Santa Fe, Greggs, BB’s Coffee & Muffins, Zee Zees, Golden Plaice, Bar Torino and Real China restaurant.
