SHOPMOBILITY SCHEME REACHES 200 MEMBERS!

28/10/08

The Shopmobility scheme was delighted to welcome its 200th customer to the store last week.

On Wednesday October 15, Rita Glover was presented with a bottle of champagne to celebrate this fantastic success. As the 200th member, her annual membership is being paid for by Scooter Mart, the official Shopmobility sponsor.

The scheme, which lends manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs and powered scooters to members of the public who have limited mobility to shop or visit facilities within the town centre, has been running in Bracknell for four years and has been a big hit.

Becky Pearce, manager of the store at 2 Crossway, comments: “I am absolutely over the moon that we’ve reached our 200th member! Since opening in 2004, we’ve supported so many individuals, be they young or old, with a temporary or permanent disability. We look forward to welcoming many more customers and would like to thank everyone who has offered their support.”

Helen Barnett, marketing manager at BRP and vice chairperson for Shopmobility adds: “It is wonderful to see that Shopmobility has grown to become such a success in the town centre. 200 members is a fantastic achievement for the scheme and for Bracknell in general.”

Bracknell Shopmobility is encouraging members to the store on Sunday November 23 for its annual Christmas event. A number of retailers in the town centre will be offering members special promotions and discounts for one day only, and when the shopping is done all are warmly welcomed back to Shopmobility for some light festive refreshments!
