Quiz evening reveals Bracknell's brains
09/12/04
On Tuesday 30 November local retailers pitted their wits against each other, exercising their grey matter in a quiz evening designed to raise vital funds and awareness for Bracknell Regeneration Partnership’s nominated charity, Macmillan Cancer Relief. Taking place on the first floor of Princess Square, over 20 teams battled it out in order to help raise 715 on the night, increasing the total to date to over 1,650.
With teams including Barclays Bank, Specsavers, Millets, Rymans the Stationer, Marks and Spencer and Howards Blinds, the competition was fierce as the rivals puzzled their way through a maze of trivia and general knowledge. However after four rounds featuring general knowledge, sport and music questions, as well as two frantic quick-fire rounds, Bracknell Regeneration Partnership were delighted to declare Steve Gorham, Luke Ruck, Charles Pittam and Tony Bates from Cash 4 Cheques as the overall winners.
Hot on their heels came runners-up the ‘Millets Masterminds’, as team members Clare Lewis, Frank Cashen, Josh Rawe, and Liz Cashen wiped the floor with the majority of the other contestants. Proving that the results were far from fixed, Bracknell Regeneration Partnership’s The Regenerates proudly received the Wooden Spoon Award.
Helen Barnett from the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) said:
“The quiz evening was a fantastic success. It’s great that so many of our local retailers are keen to become involved in town centre initiatives, especially as our drive towards regeneration is now rapidly gathering pace. The fact that our town centre charity events have now raised over 1,650 for Macmillan Cancer Relief is a really superb result for everyone involved.”
