Bracknell Shopmobility extends thanks to three new sponsors
02/02/05
Bracknell Shopmobility has unveiled a fleet of new scooters thanks to their three most recent sponsors. Bracknell based pharmaceutical business Boehringer Ingelheim, along with GMAC and Princess Square have become the sponsors to support the popular scheme, which has already attracted top names including Initial Retail Cleaning, Templeman Property Services and Hewerdine – the scooter supplier.
With their logo clearly displayed on the branded scooters, the new sponsors’ endorsement of the scheme will be clearly visible around the town centre. Since its launch in May 2004 the Shopmobilty scheme has proved to be a great boost for Bracknell town centre, giving shoppers with mobility problems far greater freedom and independence. The scheme now boasts over 120 members.
The Shopmobility scheme is a joint initiative by the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership and Bracknell Forest Borough Council, who are both delighted that the project has had such a positive effect on so many Bracknell shoppers. Helen Barnett from the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, who is also vice chair of Shopmobility, commented:
“In light of our recent regeneration proposals and the ongoing drive to improve the vitality of the town centre, it’s encouraging that the Shopmobility scheme should be forming such a significant part of our bid to improve accessibility. It’s a positive sign that increasing numbers of local businesses are also keen to support the project and we look forward to many more members taking advantage of the facilities.
“With Shopmobility services in such constant demand, we are looking for other sponsors to help finance additional necessary equipment.”
Motorised and manual wheelchairs and motorised scooters are available from the Shopmobility Unit, located in the Crossway. Anyone wanting more information about the scheme itself, including sponsorship opportunities and how to become a member, should call 01344 861316 and speak to Julie Haslett or visit the Shopmobility website at www.bracknellshopmobility.com.
