BRP fact-finding trip shows eastern promise
31/03/05
The South-East met the Middle East earlier this month when the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) travelled to Cannes in France for the world’s leading international property forum, known as MIPIM.
Helen Barnett from the regeneration partnership visited the market, which was held from 8th – 11th March, to swap notes on the regeneration plans for Bracknell town centre with the many key players from the worlds commercial property and urban regeneration industries who attend each year.
Amongst the 17,000 delegates were Rikaz Development & Planning, a leading Saudi Arabian developer specializing in large-scale urban developments. Helen met with the Rikaz delegation at the launch of their plans to create a new generation of sustainable communities in the Gulf region, to tell them about the regeneration of Bracknell and share ideas on the creation of sustainable, mixed-use developments.
There was a vast opportunity to learn about international regeneration policies and projects at the show with representatives from 71 countries present, including regional and municipal authorities, major cities, planners, developers, builders, property advisors, banks, private and institutional investors and end-users.
Helen Barnett said: “Part of our strategy to achieve best practice in urban regeneration is to look at how major projects are delivered successfully in other parts of the world. My visit to MIPIM was very enlightening and the people I met were certainly interested to know our approach to the regeneration of Bracknell.”
